This
handsome wild geranium is found chiefly towards the north of England
and in Scotland. It prefers a well-drained soil and makes a bold
display on some of the limestone mountains in Yorkshire and elsewhere.
The leaves are roughly orbicular in outline, divided almost to
the base into five or seven segments. The purplish - crimson flowers,
an inch and a half in diameter, grow separately on long thin stalks.
