45. Honeysuckle

This is one of the most popular or our hedgerow plants. It climbs by twining, and its woody stems may reach a length of fifteen feet or more. It has smooth oval leaves, growing in pairs. The sweet-smelling flowers a appear from June onwards, in clusters on the ends of the shoots. They are rich in nectar and very attractive to insects. In autumn they are followed by clusters of red berries.
